Words of Jesus Christ in "Red" ![]() You can't turn on the liberal television anymore without hearing some "pompous egghead" tell you how the earth was formed billions of years ago, how a speck of goo became a substance, which in turn vibrated against something else until it became animal, then wiggled its way to manhood. Our children are taught this swill, and as Christians we have stood around and took it long enough. The fact is, until recent times Science and Theology were "not" at odds with one another. Only in the more recent times, the last hundred years or so has Science assumed a mantle of godhood among humanity, and speaks its truth as if it were speaking from Mount Olympus. Enough! The fact is, God has revealed Himself to man in three ways. First, God has established His presence in the heart, the very soul of man. The godless who promote this (r)evolutionary idea of creation will, in one breath, discount God. Yet in the very next breath you will hear curses, often illustrated in print with funny symbols ##$#&@@!, and some or all of the curses invoke the name of the One they claim to disbelieve. In casual conversation on the television you hear people use phrases like "Oh, god", and "Oh, Jesus", but they are not addressing the One who created them on purpose - they are just muttering phrases without ending. Yet if they disbelieved a Sovereign Creator God then why use such phrases at all? Why not use "Oh, Oak Tree", or "Oh, Jello Pudding"? Because in their innermost being all men, even the late Darwin, knew that there was a Creator - and to bring His name into cursing seems to satisfy that evil impulse of the Old Sin Nature in each one of us.
"Only an idiot - yes, an idiot" would look at the witness of Creation all around us and disbelieve that there was a Creator. In the world you see purpose and a pattern of design, this in itself demanding that there be a Designer. If a man were walking across the desert and found a watch, he might not know what it was. But he would know with certainty that Someone designed that item - even if he had never seen such an item before. He would not suddenly imagine that all these parts just happened to come together. There is no evidence in nature, no evidence that Science can produce that has ever shown that things just "came together" and made something of purpose. Yet when we look at Creation, we only see an imperfect image of God. You see, Creation was flawed by man from the start, from the Garden of Eden, and when man introduced sin into Creation he introduced many things that detracted from nature's witness. We can fool our inner voice, the voice that tells us that there must be a God. We can see cruelty in nature and know that there is a God, but of what sort of God is He? Who would allow such cruelty in the animal kingdom? So you see, these types of witnesses are flawed. So God decided to reveal Himself to man in another way, in a more perfect way, and He did so through the Holy Bible. This instrument, too, may be misused by man. Science, "rightly defined", is the study of the world around us in a systematic and orderly way. Theology, "rightly defined", is the study of God's Word in a systematic and orderly way. Yet when Science moves from the real to the supposed it is "no longer" Science, but "fantasy and theory". The fact is, no one was alive at the time of the suggested Evolution of man, and all that Science supposes for the sake of supporting this theory is outside of normative Scientific research. Not too long ago in a comic strip called "Calvin and Hobbes" where the child, Calvin, was pretending to be an archeologist. He dug a hole, found a soft drink bottle, an old tin can, and some wire coat hangers. He put these items together and claimed that he had found the skeleton of an ancient "Calvinosaurus". Silly, foolish, but just as foolish as the idiocy that Evolution imposes. What Calvinosaurus Have You Built Lately? Suppose you found a soda bottle and an old can lying together, and had never seen either before in your life. Your civilization didn't bottle its drinks, nor does it have glass and tin. You could just as easily put these things together and suppose a "Calvinosaurus". You could then draw a fanciful picture based on what you suppose the animal looked like - but in reality your guesses would be just that - "guesses". Something you supposed, then theorized, then finally accepted on ..... faith. "Yes, faith!" Evolution proponents were not there when this supposed animal lived, nor when they claim that man climbed out of some primordial goo, so they must accept what they claim on faith. "Not Scientific Evidence, but faith." Now, I have told you that one of the ways that God has revealed Himself to man is through the Bible, the Word of God. If God gave us a Word and wanted us to know about Him, then it is logical to suppose that He, the Creator of All, would be powerful enough to keep error out of that Word. Liberals approach this Word and, seeking to find error, find alleged discrepancies in it's text. Yet again, could these discrepancies seem to be so because we are, at heart, a flawed people, full of sin? Man may be misinformed, and may read his misinformation into the text. Man may be uninformed, and unable to reach a proper conclusion because he does not have all the evidence. John Calvin, the great Reformer, once declared that it was "blaspheme of the Holy Ghost" to declare the world was round because the Scriptures talked about the "four corners of the earth"
If the earth has "four corners" then, he reasoned, God was saying the earth was flat. Yet we routinely use the phrase "four corners" to refer to the four points of the compass, and such jargon doesn't mean we think the earth is flat. We know better. Calvin took an ancient metaphor and misinterpreted it. The error was his, not Scripture's, and not Science's.
There are certain steps that have to be taken with anything in order to research it Scientifically. First, the object must be observable. Unless you can observe the action, you cannot come to a Scientific conclusion. Second, the object must be repeatable. Newton observed the repeated falling of objects until he came to his conclusions on gravity. If it happens once, it may be a fluke. But several times, it's a scientific Law. Finally, the object must be measurable. Unless you can measure its effects you cannot come to a Scientific proof, you can "only guess". It becomes a "Theory". So let's "examine" Evolution this way. Is it observable? Well, "no". There is evidence of minor genetic changes in certain species in nature, but never has man been able to observe man crawling from goo. Is it repeatable? Well, "no". Evolutionists place their theories millions of years in the past, and again, no one was alive during that time who can come to us and confirm this "theory". Finally, is it measurable? Well, "no". No one measured the alleged "first" bacteria that became the "first" fish or whatever. They found bones, leviathans, but have no proof. They are operating on faith. In the same way, Theology is immeasurable by Scientific standards. Science is limited to this reality, this time frame, and God is both inside and outside of this frame.
I can observe evidences that there is a God in nature, but I cannot observe God. For that matter, though I can observe life as a series of electrical pulses on an EKG machine, I cannot exactly observe life. No one has ever taken a human soul out and put it in a test tube, measured it, poked and prodded it. You can release the spark of life from a body, but you can't capture it. Once gone, it returns to God. I cannot take God and observe Him by a repeatable. I cannot get Him to come to the laboratory for me and do tricks for me at my whim. And, if the Heavens and the Earth cannot contain God, how in the world can I measure Him? "It's impossible, I must accept Him on faith". I know that there are miracles, but I cannot prove them by Scientific methods. I know a man who had cancer, and was going to see the Doctor on Monday. The pastor and elders of his Church prayed for him, and they said they felt the power of God flow through them into him. When he went to the Doctor, the Doctor could find no evidence of cancer. A miracle occurred! Can this be repeated? No, because each miracle is unique in its own way, given by the Creator God as He wills. On another instance a man came forward with a malignant cancer on his leg. After praying for him, he went to the hospital the next day and that cancer was found to be benign. Another miracle! I have seen and heard of many of these miracles, time and time again. God was definately present at them all, but I cannot prove this Scientifically. So it all comes down to this: We can prove neither Evolution nor Theology from a Scientific viewpoint. Both positions must be accepted on faith ... "and faith alone!" Now the question is, which will I accept? Well, Science can only answer measurable questions, and can never answer complex questions like "Why are we alive?", "What exactly is a soul?", or "Who is God?". Science can also teach us many things about subjects like nuclear energy, but can never answer the ethical questions as to how this energy should be applied. "Science made the Atomic bomb, but can't answer whether its use on Japan was justified and ethical." Science also has nothing to say about subjective values. I may like a certain type of music or art, and you another. Why do I like one type and you don't? "Science has not a clue." Is the music and art I'm enjoying ethical, and will it better my life? "Science is silent." And finally, "Science is only as accurate as our minds are accurate." When I reach the end of my knowledge, I reach the end of Science. Science is limited to me, to the human element which is decidedly flawed. Theology, on the other hand, "has endless possibilities." If God wanted me to know Him, and gave me the necessary knowledge about Him in His Word, then He will take all the steps necessary to expand my mind so I can learn of Him. "If I believe in Him, in Jesus Christ, and the afterlife is as He says, then I will have lost nothing in following Him." My life is better by association with Christ. I live a cleaner life, a guilt free life, a happy life, and an energized life. And though I certainly don't want to "break in line ahead of anyone", if I die in Christ and God is as He says He is, then I have no worries. If Evolution was right then, again, I've lost nothing by modeling my life after Christ. I am a thousand times the better person now than I was before I knew Him. "But hey, what if Evolution is wrong?" What if you're following after this non-Scientific god and you die and find out you're wrong? Did Evolution change your life? If so, how? Are you a better person? Do you give to the poor, do you love your fellow man, do you refuse to hate because of Evolution? If Evolution was wrong and you die, you can expect according to the Holy Scriptures, an eternity screaming in the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever. "Myself, I'd rather be a Christian and be wrong after death, than be a deluded Evolutionist and be wrong after death." The path of that foolishness is damnation, eternal damnation, and nothing that I care to participate in.
The popular idea among unbelievers and (r)evolutionists is that Christians are bubble headed fools that need some sort of crutch to get them through life - and that they use religion and the Church as that crutch. Not too long ago the wrestler turned governor of one of our States publicly stated that Christians were "weak minded", and that only weak minded people would follow after Christ. Actually only weak minded people would look at the evidences that support the truths of Christianity and fail to consider them before ignoring Christ. I am a reasonably intelligent person, and have always been so. When I accepted Christ as my Savior I did so by faith, not because of certain evidences, but because I knew in my heart that my life was incomplete without Him. Yet after I became a Christian I didn't stop studying, poking, prodding, and learning. In fact, no person that I know who is truly a Christian has ever stopped seeking the deeper truths of God. The world would have you believe that a Christian is someone who, after having accepted a fantasy Savior, sits down and stops thinking. Quite the contrary: a Christian, one who has been "changed" by his experience with Christ, becomes the most critical of people. We "seek", and "seek", and "seek", and grow in our knowledge of God. If Christ was a charlatan the average Christian would quickly root Him out as such, for Christianity doesn't make a person "stupid" or "apathetic" - but drives us to seek a deeper understanding of God. Christianity doesn't make us lazy, but drives us to be conformed to His image. If He were fake, then we would soon discover this. There have been those who have sought to dethrone Christ by saying "When Caesar died, there were rumors flying about that he had risen from the grave, just like it was with Christ". Well, yes, this is true. In fact, when great men died in past history there have always been rumors that they "defeated death" and rose from the grave. I'll not dispute you there. Yet I don't remember Caesar or any other of these charlatans coming out of the grave, sitting down, and teaching the masses. "Only Jesus did this, only Jesus came out of his grave and taught others for not just one day, but many". And He was seen by hundreds of people. You see, God has never asked His people to exercise "blind faith" or "stupid faith" in His plan. When God called Israel out of Egypt He sent a very clear, visible pillar of fire and a pillar of smoke to guide the Israelites in the Exodus.
When God told Israel to trust Him, He sent manna from Heaven, and brought water out of the rock:
So let's not hear any of this nonsense about "blind unintelligent" faith. He doesn't work that way. When Christ resurrected, He did so plainly, in sight, and sat down with hundreds who saw Him teach and minister. "Let Caesar top that!" The writers of the New Testament were eye witnesses of this resurrection. Nothing was hidden, like the supposed golden plates that Joseph Smith found and translated in order to create the Book of Mormon. Golden plates that no one has ever seen but one, Joseph Smith, that none could testify to. Here is a cult, to hide things in a corner, to claim without substance. But of Christianity?
The proofs of Christianity were not "done in a corner", but were done in the light, in plain view for all to see. No magic here, no sleight of hand, no dim stage to hide the wires and levers used to trick the audience. No, Christ was better than that. He rose, came from the tomb, sat down, and taught for many days. Before you reject Christianity, you must explain away the uniqueness of Christ Jesus. There are no alternatives to Christ. You cannot say that He was just a prophet, or a great teacher. Jesus claimed to be God incarnate, those who wrote about Him claimed Him to be God incarnate, and the Old Testament Scripture, written years before His appearing on His earthly ministry, witnessed that He was God incarnate.
Time after time people came to Jesus and "worshipped Him", something you should only do to God. You might say these people were mistaken, you might say that they did something that they shouldn't have done - but please note also that Jesus accepted this worship time and time again. Any great teacher of that era, even Gamaliel (the teacher of Paul the Apostle) would have refused worship had someone came and did it to them. "Not Jesus". He accepted the worship because it was His due. "He was and is God, the Christ, the Christos, the anointed One. !" Don't say that Jesus was just a great teacher, because if He was only a great teacher and accepted worship as God then He'd be no better than a "madman". He accepted worship because "He knew He was and is God incarnate! He accepted worship because "He wanted YOU to know that He was and is God incarnate. To explain away Christianity you must say that Jesus was a madman - not a prophet or a great teacher. Then you must reconcile the great things He did, the great teachings He made, the great miracles He performed with the performance of a madman. Can you do it? "I didn't think so". If you will reject Christianity you must reject the reality of the resurrection of Christ. Several have tried to say that Jesus wasn't "really killed", that He only swooned, came to, got out of the tomb then went on to teach for many days. Dr Simon Greenleaf, who wrote three volumes of scholarly text on the Laws of Legal evidence for Harvard University, took the resurrection of Christ and put it on trial. After the trial Dr Greenleaf said that the resurrection of Christ was one of the "best established" facts in history, and that according to the laws of legal evidence it was "true"! Fred Morrison, a journalist, went to the Holy Land to try and refute the resurrection of Christ. He couldn't do it. Look at these details. In ancient Israel the body of the dead was mummified in order to prepare it for burial. The body of Christ was wrapped in around 118 pounds of linen, and bound together by a putty made of spices. These spices were applied to prevent the odors of the decaying body from escaping into the tomb. If Jesus was alive, this would have only been temporary, for there's no way that He could have breathed through the cloth and goo they placed over Him. Besides, the accounts of His crucifixion show that He was dead:
Any doctor can tell you that when someone dies their blood cells begin to separate from the water content of the body. When the guard jabbed the spear in His side this was not a random act of cruelty, but the executioner's way of making sure Christ was dead. He had crucified many before Jesus - "this was not a new death to him - and he knew that if blood and water ran out of the body then death was certain". No need to go through the trouble of breaking His legs to hasten death for even the guard knew - He's gone!
Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, and a stone weighing just under two tons was rolled against the mouth of the tomb to seal it. Since Jesus was executed as a traitor to the state of Rome a rawhide seal was placed on the door of the tomb, and a Roman watch (around 16 men) was assigned to stand outside. This was to prevent the disciples from coming in a sneaking the body of Christ away. Considering that the area in front of the tomb was only 36 feet, these men could have stood off an invading army if it had tried to take Jesus. These men had every reason to guard the tomb well, for Roman soldiers, if they failed in their duties, were often executed. In fact, in extreme cases not only was the soldier executed, but their families as well. These men would then be, of necessity, "ferociously guarding that tomb"! If Jesus' friends came and took Him out of the tomb there would have been a "ferocious battle", and I dare say it would have been a battle that "the Romans would have won". Did they steal His body away, then concoct this fantastic story that He rose from the dead? I think not. But if you're still not convinced, consider this... If you reject Christianity then you must explain away the "transformed lives" of the followers of Christ. Ten of the Apostles were martyred for their faith, and one was exiled from Rome. Of those who died, one was crucified on an "X" shaped Cross, one crucified upside down, some were killed with arrows, some were stoned to death (a grisly way to go) - none died a peaceful death in their beds. All were, at one time or the other, beaten on their backs until muscle tissue was exposed. Some were cast into dark prisons with rats and vipers, and some were beheaded for their faith. The Apostles were spit on, reviled, cursed, tortured, and never recanted their faith in Christ. Do you really think any rational being would steal a body from a tomb then go through a living hell to sustain this charade? Do you think that any rational being, once offered the choice of being skinned alive or recanting Christ, would not recant, happily recant, if he had not clearly seen the resurrected Christ teaching then ascend to the Father?
And if the Apostles had some hidden agenda that drove them to suffer the most terrible of torments while hiding the lie of the resurrection - how do you explain the others? Yes, the others, for the Apostles were not the only ones to suffer. Christians by the thousands willingly marched into stadiums where bloated, unbelieving, hell bound heathen watched in entertainment while they were eaten alive by all manner of wild animals. Eusebius, the Church historian tells this part of the story best:
If these people, countless people, were accepting Christ on "blind faith" alone do you think they would have underwent such agony, such suffering, such evil for Christ's sake? "No, No, a thousand times No!" And this was not an isolated incident that happened only in ancient history, but for two thousand years Christians have been willing to suffer death for the sake of Christ. If you truly believe in evolution, are you willing to suffer one tenth as much for your belief? Are you willing to be spit on, much less have boiling lead poured down your back for the sake of evolution. "Come on, put your life where your belief is." A man may believe many things, but belief alone does not make that thing real. What makes it real is the proof in the life of the believer. Has evolution made you a better person, a person who is willing to give up everything for its sake? Are you willing to die as a Pagan, a worshipper of gods other than Christ of Calvary? The Pagans, the Wicca, the false religions when offered death or entrance into the Church during its dark ages, during Romanism, gladly recanted (at least outwardly) their false worship, entered the Church, and brought its paganism with it. Are you willing to die to support your claim that God made you homosexual, that your way is righteous? Are you willing to be tortured to support your claim that abortion is, in itself, righteous, and not the murder of unborn children? You may not be willing, but Christians are. Some call us fanatics, some call us madmen, but we are neither. We know in Whom we have believed for we have experienced His power, and are willing to die, if need be, to promote that Gospel of Christ. We know this as said by our Lord Jesus:
Get your priorities straight, get your faith straight, for one day you will meet Him in judgment. Accept Christ to be your Savior, believing that He died and rose again for you, or one day face the harsh reality that that which you placed your faith in is only fluff. In His name, call on the name of Jesus and be saved!
If you have not already done so, please consider trusting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. For more information on Salvation Click Here to view "How can I get to Heaven?"
