In our last study section, Part 1 of 2, we went back to the Creation of the human race to discover what was God's Plan as regards men, women, and marriage. We noted that God created "Adam" to be the contract leader of both the Garden and the marriage, and that woman (Isha) was designed to support and follow him. We also pointed out that the Fall of mankind from Grace came about because both "Adam" and "Isha" ignored their God given roles, both responding and initiating with either the wrong person or toward the wrong situation. Man was designed to initiate and lead the relationship with the woman, and woman to respond to her husband only. When God's design is ignored it always leads to unnatural disaster.

     When we discuss unnatural disasters We are talking about problems that could have been avoided if both men and women had heeded the Divine Design of Creation. Sometimes these disasters effect only the person, but like a drop of water in a pond sometimes the ripples spread outward effecting families, cities, nations, or a large population of the world. There are numerous Biblical examples of unnatural disaster. Let's look at some of them. Satan's initial ploy of fooling "Eve" was so successful that he thought he'd try it on a grander scale. In Genesis chapter six we see a story of perversion so gross that it nearly caused the destruction of the whole human race:

     Some time after the Fall, the human race had grown dramatically through natural reproduction. Satan saw that the Plan of God was moving steadily toward the dispensation of Salvation, the one bright spot foretold by God during the "Adamic" curse:

     In cursing the serpent (satan) God foretold that it was by the seed of the woman that she would bring forth a Deliverer who would crush the serpent, yet be wounded Himself in the conflict. This was a prophecy that foretold of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Satan understood this prophecy, and he also saw how well his ploy of deceiving the woman went in the Garden. In order to divert the prophecy of God, Satan had fallen angels seduce and procreate with the human race. This blasphemy is what is being re-told in Genesis 6: "..That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose..": "sons of God" is the Hebrew "Bene Ha Elohim", an idiom used throughout scripture for angelic beings (see Job 1.6; 2.1; 38.7). When Satan fell from Grace he led a third part of the angels in heaven in rebellion with him:

     The "third part of the stars of heaven" is a symbolic reference to the angels who followed Satan in rebellion. Satan thought, "Why not pervert the humanity of man, and thus destroy God's Plan of redemption?" He had his henchmen, in human form, procreate with the daughters of men with monstrous results. Satan was able to do this because woman had not yet learned that in God's Plan of marriage she is to only respond to the man God creates for her. The daughters of men met, responded to, and reproduced, outside of the Will of God, with the inhuman, and the offspring that came out of this unholy union was inhuman.

     The offspring were giants, mighty and strong. But born of inhuman fathers they possessed no conscience, and led the human race deeper and deeper into depravity. It got so bad that even God, with His infinite Love and Patience, repented that He had created mankind. God gave man a 120 year Grace period to repent, though man rejected this more than generous act from his Creator.

     Man was nearly exterminated but for one family that adhered to God's righteousness; Noah. We are not going to reiterate the story of the Noahic flood here (because you all know the details as completely as we do), but we do want to make this point: the daughters of "Isha" (but for the family of Noah) forsook human men in favor of angelic counterfeits. Their failure in response to their God given men led to halfbreed abominations of Satan. When woman forsook her Divine design for a counterfeit, millions of lives were necessarily destroyed through the cleansing of the Flood. Children who never asked to be born halfbreed were destroyed, animals innocent of sin were destroyed, plantlife destroyed, the earth flooded because God's Plan was ignored. In human history the first and greatest unnatural disaster, the Fall from Eden, came about when men and women ignored their Divine Design. The second greatest unnatural disaster, the Flood, came about for the same reason. "You cannot ignore God's Plan and escape unharmed!"

     Following the Flood, Noah and his family left the Ark and began to carve out a new life for themselves in a clean washed world. Noah started his own vineyard, and one day drank too much of his own 'produce', falling asleep drunk. Noah's sin led to the first reported case of homosexuality in the Bible:

     What Ham did was not as innocent as glance at his father's nakedness, and then tell the other children about it. Ham (Ra'ah) gazed, stared at, enjoyed looking at, contemplated while gazing at his naked father. In other words, he responded in an unnatural manner to what he inadvertently saw. Had he just glimpsed his father naked and covered him up, his father would have thanked him. But he responded in a sexual gaze, told his brothers about it, and received a just curse from his father.

     The apple rarely falls from the tree. Canaan (Ham's son and heritage) was characterized by all of the hedonistic, homosexual, incorrect sin response patterns that Ham allowed in his life. Out of the line of Canaan came the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgasites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites (Genesis 10.15-19). Each of these Canaanite ancestors were characterized by bestiality, homosexuality, and hedonistic traits. Each group rejected their Divine Design and embraced an erroneous sexual response pattern. The Sodomites, infamous for their homosexuality, also descended from Canaan. The sexual response of homosexuality (where men or women incorrectly sexually respond to their own sex) had so depraved the Canaanites that God told Israel to kill every man, woman, and child of these nations when they went in to occupy their land:

     This may seem a bit harsh to you, but God in His infinite wisdom knew how far these people had crept into depravity. It began with homosexuality, then moved to bestiality. The people eventually started worshipping strange Gods that demanded child sacrifice. God warned the Israelites that unless they destroy these people, that Israel would:

     The downfall of the Canaanites began when people of the same sex began responding to one another rather than following "God's Divine Design". This failure in leadership, initiation, and response led to bestiality, idolatry, and total depravity. God wanted to spare His people this horror, and demanded a total extermination or exile of all of the descendants of Canaan once they entered the promised land.

     When mankind leaves the "Divine Design" of marriage the individual soul becomes so confused that all relationships in life are out of sync. Canaan started by responding to men, rather than to his Designed woman, and started a distorted way of life that has tormented humanity for thousands of years. The God of Grace is ignored for man made gods that demand ever greater sacrifices.

     The Canaanites turned to Baal and other demonic gods that required child sacrifice, phallic services where the beauty of intimacy in marriage was perverted into a public display of orgy, and unlikely sexual intercourse with the animals. Canaanites skinned their sacrificed children, stretched the skin across drums, and played these instruments of death (called Tophet) while playing their gruesome games. Venereal diseases (syphilis and VD) entered the human race through the illicit acts of the Canaanites, which later spread to other diseases such as AIDS. Sadly the innocent often suffer when man ignores the "Divine Design" for his own way. Israel ignored God's warnings. Had Israel been obedient it’s possible that many of the sexual diseases that plague mankind today would be gone and forgotten.

     The Israelites killed and exiled the Canaanite men, but kept the women as "spoils of war". Once more man refused to respond to his Creator and rather sought the arms of beautiful (and wrong) women. The Canaanite women retained their dark worship, and the Israelite men followed after them in order to please. Together they went into the high places and worshipped Baal, Asheroth, Balaam, and a host of other demons . God kept warning Israel (see Deuteronomy 17.2-5; 2 Chronicles 28.23; Nehemiah 9.27-37; Psalms 78.58-64; 106.34-42; Isaiah 1.29-31; 2.6-22; 30.22; 57.3-13; 65.3-7; Jeremiah 1.15-16; 3.1-11; 5.1-17; 7; 8.1-19; 13.9-27; 16; 17.1-6; 18.13-15; 19; 22.9; 32.35; 44; 48; Ezekiel 6; 7.19; 8.5-18; 9; 14.1-14; 16; 20; 22.4; 23; 44.10-12; Hosea 1.2; 2.2-5; 4.12-19; 5.1-3; 8.5-14; 9.10; 10; 11.2; 12.11-14; 13.1-4; 14.8; Amos 3.14; 4.4-5; 5.5; Micah 1.1-9; 5.12-14; 6.16; Zephaniah 1; Malachi 2.11-13) but Israel followed after idolatry, men responding to the wrong kind of women rather than taking the lead in the proper type of marriage. God is longsuffering, but eventually He led Assyria to attack and conquer Northern Israel. The ten northern tribes, today known as the "lost tribes of Israel" were captured, and as was customary, exiled from their homeland while their identity records were destroyed. These tribes were so scattered that it won't be until the return of our Saviour Jesus Christ that they will be reunited with all of Israel. (see Hosea 2.14-23; 11.9-11; 13.13-14; 14.8)

     The two southern tribes, Judah and Benjamin, fared a little better. They initially fell into idolatry, but repented when God warned them. God did send Babylon against these tribes as a strong warning against idolatry. Though the tribes were dispersed in exile between the river Chebor and Babylon, the King of Babylon (Cyrus) feared God (Ezekiel 5; 6; 7; 16;23.22-44; Daniel 5.13; 6.13; Jeremiah 52.28-30; Ezekiel 1.1; 10.15). Cyrus was never harsh to the remnant of Israel, and when they repented fully of their idolatry God moved Cyrus to restore them to their land (2 Chronicles 36.23; Ezra 1.3-11). Cyrus even helped Israel rebuild the Temple (2 Chronicles 36.23; Ezra 1.14). What was destroyed by forsaking the Divine Design was restored once the people restored their souls through the Word of God.

     As humans we like to invent pithy little sayings to cover up or make sin look more appealing. "Alternate Lifestyle" covers up homosexuality, "Safe Sex" for fornication; "Kinky Love" for bestiality, prostitution, and incest. Churches are formed today where these aberrations of the "Divine Design" are not only tolerated but encouraged. Just remember that God knows (as do you) what is sin and what is an "Alternate Lifestyle". When He sent His angels down to Sodom and Gomorrah they found two cities so twisted in the "Divine Design" that there was no hope of salvation:

     The homosexual would have you believe that God was visiting Sodom and Gomorrah on a good-will tour and just ran into a little misunderstanding with the people. The Bible tells us that God's attention was drawn to Sodom and Gomorrah because their sin (homosexuality) was so perverse that it demanded Heaven's attention. Abraham did his best to get a concession from God to allow the righteous to live (a little underhanded, actually, because Abraham was in fact concerned about his nephew Lot). God would never cause the righteous to suffer the punishment of the wicked, and Abraham knew this. But God had to do something about this great city because all but a few within it had turned away from the Divine Design into something monstrous.

     The heavenly visitors quickly found Lot, and were just as quickly invited to his house to spend the night. In fact, when the angels sought to remain outside all night, Lot forbade it. Homosexuals would have you believe it was out of a sense of hospitality, but the rest of the context teaches differently. After nightfall the rampant perversity of the homosexual community in Sodom ran wild, and they demanded "an audience" with the heavenly visitors. Lot offered his two virgin daughters to placate the crowd to no avail. Man had turned so far away from the Divine Design that normal fornication and rape of the innocent women would no longer satisfy: they demanded male companionship.

     The whole city, even part of Lot's family, had forsaken the Divine Design of marriage for that "Alternate Lifestyle" we hear so much about today. God's answer to the "Alternate Lifestyle" is to destroy it so violently that even the sight of it's destruction destroyed Lot's wife when she looked back (Genesis 19.26). I am told that Biblical archeologists discovered the old site of Sodom and Gomorrah, and found that there was still a high level of radioactivity in the area: just like it had gone through a nuclear holocost. Not surprising when you regard that it was the very power of God that wiped the city out of existence!

     Let's do a quick recap here. We've seen four instances where God's Divine Design of marriage was forsaken for man's design, each leading to disaster. Man forgot his physical role and became woman , and vice versa (homosexuality). Man neglected his spiritual role of leader and became responder, while woman became leader and initiated disaster. Violations of the Divine Design have led to divorce, venereal disease, the Fall from Eden, the Great Flood, the destruction of God's chosen nation Israel, and the complete obliteration of a great city, Sodom and Gomorrah. Violations of the Divine Design aren't alternate lifestyles, but lifestyles that twist your soul while leading to Gods punishment.
