He was married twice. His first wife's name is currently unknown however they had 5 children together and she is believed to have passed away. He was married second to " Mary Nichols " on July 1, 1847 in Caroline County, Maryland. They first show up in the 1850 census ( recorded September 25, 1850 ) residing on a farm in Caroline County, Maryland. Robert ( 51 ) is shown as being a " Farmer " and 36 years old. His second wife, " Mary ", is shown as being 44 years old. They are shown with " 5 " children, all with Robert's ( 41 ) first wife, residing with them: Shadrack ( age 18 ) ~ Mary ( age 16 ) ~ David ( age 14 ) ~ Robert H. ( age 11 ) ~ and Margaret ( age 9 ) . In the 1860 census ( recorded September 9, 1860 ) they are shown residing on a farm near Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. Robert ( 51 ) is still shown as being a " Farmer " and 45 years old. His second wife, " Mary ", is shown as being 55 years old. They are shown with " 2 " of the children still residing with them: Robert H. ( age 21 ) ~ and Margaret ( age 19 ) . Also residing with them is another family member: Fanny Dean ( age 17 ). Her relationship is currently unknown. The 1860 census is the last one that records this family. Apparently those taking the census data did not come across them from 1870 through the 1900 census'. Possibly " Mary " passed away and Robert ( 51 ) moved in with another family member. Robert ( 51 ) passed away at the age of 81 on August 2, 1895 and was interred in the Friendship Cemetery, Friendship, Caroline County, Maryland. He married " Sarah 'Sallie' Christopher " on March 18, 1853 in Caroline County, Maryland. She was born the daughter of William Christopher and Elizabeth Nichols Christopher on December 13, 1829 in Maryland. They are first shown in the 1860 census ( recorded on September 10, 1860 ) residing on a farm near Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. Shadrack ( 60 ) is noted as being a " Farmer " and 29 years old. " Sarah 'Sallie' " is noted as being 31 years old. They are shown with " 3 " children residing with them: Mary ( age 6 ) ~ Susan ( age 5 ) ~ and a black child named Susan ( age 7 ). In the 1870 census ( recorded on July 19, 1870 ) they are still residing on a farm near Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. Shadrack ( 60 ) is noted as being a " Farmer " and 38 years old. " Sarah 'Sallie' " is noted as being 40 years old. They are shown with " 3 " children residing with them: Mary Emily ( age 15 ) ~ Martha Susan ( age 14 ) ~ and a child named Mary F. Butler ( age 5 ). In the 1880 census ( recorded on June 16, 1880 ) they are still residing on a farm near Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. Shadrack ( 60 ) is noted as being a " Farmer " and 49 years old. " Sarah 'Sallie' " is noted as being 50 years old. They are shown with " 2 " children residing with them: Martha Susan ( age 44 ) ~ and who is now noted as being a " niece " : Mary F. Butler ( age 15 ). Mary Emily Dean had married " Jesse Francis Collins " and they were out on their own. The 1890 census is unavailable due to a fire in January 1921 which destroyed the vast majority of the records. When Shadrack ( 60 ) and " Sarah's " daughter Mary ( 60 ) passed away in 1881 at the age of 27 both of her children, Alverta and Lona Alice Collins, came to live with them. After their grandmother passed away they continued to resided with Shadrack ( 60 ) until he passed away. Sarah preceded her husband in passed away at the age of 62 on November 30, 1892 and was interred in the Nichols-Williamson Family Cemetery, Nichols, Maryland. Shadrack ( 60 ) passed away at the age of 83 on July 20, 1914 and was interred next to his wife. They had two children together who both passed away before their parents. 66. Mary preceded her husband in passed away at the age of 68 on May 20, 1909 and was interred in the Hynson Cemetery, Hynson, Caroline County, Maryland. Robert ( 63 ) passed away at the age of 73 on August 17, 1913 and was interred with his wife. They had one known child together.

They first show up in the 1900 census ( recorded on June 21, 1900 ) residing in Preston, Caroline County, Maryland. John ( 70 ) is noted as being a " laborer " and 32 years old. " Kate " is 25 years old. They are shown with " 3 " children residing with them: Lola V. ( age 6 ) ~ Blanche V. ( age 5 ) and Alice M. ( age 2 ). In the 1910 census ( recorded on May 3, 1910 ) they moved to a farm in Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. Since " Kate's " mother Martha Fleming ( age 65 ) is noted as residing with them it's possible that the farm was " Kate's " parent's farm and that her dad had passed away. John ( 70 ) is noted as being a " farmer " and 41 years old. Katherine " Kate " is 34 years old. They are now shown with " 6 " children residing with them: Lola V. ( age 16 ) ~ Blanche V. ( age 15 ) ~ Alice M. ( age 13 ) ~ Velma ( age 8 ) ~ Maurice ( age 3 ) and Leland ( age 6 monts ). In the 1920 census ( recorded on March 27, 1920 ) they are shown residing on a farm near American Corner, Caroline County, Maryland which may be the same farm they resided on in 1910. They are noted as owning the farm here. John ( 70 ) is noted as being a " farmer " and 50 years old. " Kate's " mom is not shown since she had passed away in 1910. They are now shown with " 9 " children residing with them: Lola ( age 25 ) ~ Blanche V. ( age 23 ) ~ Alice M. ( age 21 ) ~ Velma ( age 19 ) ~ Maurice ( age 11 ) ~ Leland Leon ( age 9 ) ~ Esther "Sallie" ( age 5 ) ~ Mary ( age 4 ) and John ( age 2 ). " Katherine 'Kate' " prededed her husband in passed away at the age of 52 on November 6, 1927 and was interred in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland. In the 1930 census ( recorded on April 16, 1930 ) John ( 70 ) is shown residing in Caroline County on a rented farm and being a 62 year old " Farmer ". He is now shown with " 5 " children residing with him: Alice ( age 31 ) ~ Leland Leon ( age 20 ) ~ Esther "Sallie" ( age 15 ) ~ Marie ( age 14 ) and John Lloyd ( age 13 ). In the 1940 census ( recorded on April 23, 1940 ) John ( 70 ) is shown residing with his daughter Esther's (73) family in Denton, Caroline County, Maryland and is a 72 year old widower. John ( 70 ) passed away at the age of 72 shortly after the census in 1940 and was interred in Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg, Maryland next to his wife. " Joseph " preceded his wife in passing away at the age of 72 on December 25, 1946 and was interred in the Newark Cemetery, Newark, Delaware. Lona ( 64 ) passed away at the age of 84 in Smyrna, Delaware on March 24, 1966 and she was interred with her husband. They had five children however only ones name is known. Nothing further is known of this family.

Maurice ( 86 ) worked as an Insurance Salesman, Farmer, Carpenter and at one time owned and operated a store in Denton, Maryland. Grace grew up in Preston and worked with her family on their farm. She attended all of her schooling in Preston and was the only family member to graduate from High School. During her marriage Grace worked as a homemaker and raised her children. This marriage ended in divorce and Maurice ( 86 ) moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While there it is unknown what type of work he did or exactly where is lived. Maurice ( 86 ) died on May 30, 1979 in Philadelphia, PA of a Heart Attack at the age of 71. He was interred somewhere in Philadelphia. Grace passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, Maryland. She was interred in the Denton Cemetery, Denton, Md. Together they had 6 children. 101.
