   
Family History (Of the Maryland Eastern Shore Area) By: Russell S. Pickett The "Poole (Pool) Family" were basically centered in the Preston, Maryland area. When the name was changed from "Pool" to "Poole" is currently unknown. The contents of this document show them all with the current family spelling of "Poole". Only two photo's are displayed within this document. The first being that of Levin Poole (44) and the second being that of his daughter Sally (51).

Isaac, (4) was born the 3rd child and 2nd son of John (1) and Ann (Wallis) Poole on August 2, 1779. He married "Lydia Wright" on March 16, 1804 in Caroline County, Md. Lydia passed away before Isaac (4) on November 5, 1810 due to complication of child birth. It is not known if Isaac (4) ever remarried. Isaac (4) passed away on October 21, 1821. Where they are interred is currently unknown. They had one known child together.
Rhoda, (5) was born the 4th child and 2nd daughter of John (1) and Ann (Wallis) Poole on March 15, 1782. She married "Bing Whiteley" who was born June 18, 1781. His parents names are currently unknown. Rhoda (5) passed away prior to her husband Bing on March 26, 1831. Bing passed away on May 31, 1837. Where they are interred is currently unknown. John, (6) was born the 5th child and 3rd son of John (1) and Ann (Wallis) Poole on July 22, 1784. He was married twice. He 1st married "Ann Combs" on October 3, 1804 in Dorchester County, Md. They had two children together and Ann passed away on March 26, 1814. John (6) then married "Eliza Cannon" on June 24, 1815 also in Dorchester County, Md. They had one child together. The date of Eliza's death is currently unknown. John (6) passed away on January 21, 1822 in Caroline County, Md. Where they are interred is currently unknown. Henry, (8) was born on October 25, 1800 the 1st child & 1st son of Levin (2) and Elizabeth (Emerson) Poole in Caroline County, Maryland. He married "Esther Charles" who was born December 14, 1793 in Caroline County, Md. Her parent's names are currently unknown. Henry (8) passed away on March 7, 1858 in Caroline County, Md. Esther passed away January 18, 1875 also in Caroline County, Md. Where they are interred is currently unknown. They had three children together. 25. Annie Eliza Poole - b. Aug. 30, 1830, d. John (9) was a farmer and they resided in the Harmony, Md. area. He passed away on September 22, 1883 in Caroline Cty, Md. Elizabeth, his wife, passed away on June 2, 1902. She married "Madison Williams" on November 7, 1833 in Caroline Co, Md. Madison was born abt. 1808 in Maryland. His parent's names are currently unknown. Samuel, (11) was born the 4th child and 3rd son of Levin (2) and Elizabeth (Emerson) Poole in Caroline County, Md. on December 6, 1807. He married "Britannia Corkran" on October 13, 1836 in Caroline Co, Md. Britannia was born on May 9, 1820 in Caroline Co., Md. Her parent's names are currently unknown. Samuel passed away on October 20, 1896 in Caroline Co., Md. and was interred in the Hillcrest Cem., Federalsburg, Md. She married "Henry Corkran" on November 20, 1834 at the Northwest Fork Meeting House, Caroline Co., Md. Henry was born the son of Nathan & Rebecca (Willis) Corkran on May 2, 1812 in Caroline Co., Md. She married "Henry Meloney" who was born the son of William, Jr. & Celia (Wright) Meloney on Dec. 21, 1808 in Caroline Cty, Md. Henry passed away on Sep. 14, 1852 in Easton, Talbot Cty, Md. Sarah (24) passed away on December 21, 1914 in Caroline Cty, Md. and was interred in Concord Meth. Cem., Concord, Md. Where Henry is interred is currently unknown. They had one known child together. Levin, (26) was born the 3rd child and only son of Henry (8) & Esther (Charles) Poole on April 11, 1833 in Caroline County, Maryland. He married "Mary J. Pearce" on Sep. 26, 1867 in Caroline Cty, Md. She was born in Nov. 1842 in Delaware. Her parent's names are currently unknown. Levin (26) was a farmer and Miller by trade. Their farm was in the Denton, MD area. Mary passed away on March 21, 1890 and was interred in Concord Meth. Cem., Concord, Md. Levin (26) passed away on July 8, 1909 in Caroline Co., Md. and was interred with his wife. Isaac L. Poole, (41) Issac, (41) was born the 2nd child and 2nd son of John (8) & Elizabeth (Collins) Poole on January 12, 1832 in Caroline County, Maryland. He married "Mary Ann Collins" on May 8, 1872 in Caroline Cty, Md. She was born on September 1, 1846 in Delaware. Nothing further is known of her or her family. Isaac (41) passed away on June 5, 1916 and was interred in the Junior Order Cemetery, Preston, MD. Mary passed away on August 25, 1882 and was interred next to her husband. Levin, (44) was born on September 10, 1838 the son of John and Elizabeth (_____) Poole in Caroline County, Maryland. He married "Martha Elizabeth Neal" on November 27, 1874. Martha was born on October 31, 1852 and it is known that her mother’s name was Elizabeth. Levin (44) was believed to be a farmer and to reside in the Preston area. During the Civil War he fought as a soldier in the 1st Regiment, Maryland Eastern Shore Infantry. The 1st Maryland did multiple duty during the war, including the Battle of Gettysburg, and you can see there service by "Clicking Here". His wife Martha preceeded him in death on September 7, 1878 and was interred in the Preston Cemetery in Preston. Levin (44) died on March 8, 1916 and was interred next to his wife. Willis, (48) was born the 8th child & 6th son of John (9) & Elizabeth (_____) Poole on July 7, 1848 in Maryland. He married "Sarah "Sallie" Ann LeCompte" on March 18, 1873 in Caroline County, Md. She was born on February 3, 1850 in Dorchester County, Md. Her parent's names are currently unknown. They had three known children together.

Leonard, (56) was born the 1st child and 1st son of Samuel (11) and Britannia (Corkran) Poole in Caroline County, Md. on November 11, 1837. He married "Eliza Ann Smith" who was born abt. 1842. Leonard (56) passed away on September 4, 1890 and was interred in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery near Williamsburg, Md. in Dorchester County. Samuel "Frank", (60) was born the 5th child and 3rd son of Samuel (11) and Britannia (Corkran) Poole in Caroline County, Md. on August 20, 1847. He was married twice. He was first married to "Elizabeth Anne Gambrill" " on January 12, 1875 in Dorchester Co., Md. She was born on September 9, 1851. She passed away on March 31, 1901 and was interred in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery near Williamsburg in Dorchester County. They had three children together. "Frank" (60) then married "Mary E. McMahan" who was previously married to James Barnes and had three children with him. "Frank" (60) and Mary had no children together. It is unknown when she passed away or where she is interred. Sarah, (76) was born the only known child of Henry & Sarah Jane (Poole) (24) Meloney in March 1852 in Maryland. She married "Francis "Frank" Polk Covey" on August 24, 1887 in Concord, Md. She was his third wife. Frank was born the son of Andrew & Sarah Jane (White) Covey in August 1851 in Maryland. Frank passed away on October 19, 1922 in Denton, Md. and was interred in the Concord Meth Cem, Concord, Caroline Co., Md. Sarah (76) passed away on May 1, 1944 also in Denton, Md. and was also interred in the Concord Meth Cem, Concord, Caroline Co., Md. They had one known child together. Sally Emily Poole, (106) "Lewis Clayton" died on November 30, 1938 at the age of 63 of a stroke. He was interred in the Preston Cemetery, Preston. Family Notes: All 7 children were born in Preston. Lloyd (25) was never married & did not have any children. He died of a Heart Attack while living with his sister Grace (29) in Denton at the age of 80. Lloyd (25) worked as a Farmer. Merritt (26) was never married & did not have any children. He died while working in a Ship Yard in Philadelphia, Pa. of a ruptured appendix at the age of 21. Raymond (30) was also never married & did not have any children. He died of Emphysema at the age of 56 in the hospital in Easton. He worked during his lifetime as a farmer. Lloyd (25), Merritt (26) & Raymond (30) are all interred together in the Preston Cem., Preston. on the "Lewis Clayton Carroll" family and their descendants please see the "Carroll Family History" by "Clicking Here"! Martha, (108) was born the 2nd child and 1st daughter of Willis (48) & Sarah "Sallie" Ann Lecompte in February 1880. She married "John Richard Andrew" on October 20, 1897. John was born the son of Elisha & Mary Emily (Nichols) Andrew on February 8, 1873 near American Corner, Md.

Susan, (109) was born the 3rd and last child and 2nd daughter of Willis (48) & Sarah "Sallie" Ann Lecompte in 1880. She married "John Alfred Jester" on January 21, 1903. John was born the son of William Henry & Sarah E. (Blanche) Jester in 1884 in Caroline County, Md.
124. Lillie Jester - b. abt. 1907, d. 1994 125. John Rosser Andrew Jester - b. Apr. 1, 1915, d. Mar. 31, 1968 Family Notes: Sallie (67) married "Leonard Virgil Hill" and they had 7 children. Lillie (68) married a "Voss". John (69) appears to have used the last name of "Andrew" for unknown reasons.
