Robert (1) joined "Company H, 2nd Regiment, Delaware Infantry Volunteers" on August 12, 1861 in Wilmington to fight in the Civil War. He signed up for a 3 year term which would have ended in August of 1864. A New Testament that Robert (1) carried during the war can be seen at the Delaware State Archives. It was donated by his grand-daughter, Mary (19). Mary died on October 11, 1868 & was interred in the Old Swedes Church Cem., Wilmington. The date of Robert's (1) death & the place of his interment is currently unknown. They had four known children together who were all born in Wilmington. 3.* John Hardy, b. John Hardy, (3) John, (3) was born the 2nd child & 1st son of Robert (1) & Mary (______) Hardy in May, 1853 in Wilmington. He married "Mary Carter McDowell". Mary's mother's name was Elizabeth McDowell and she is shown as a widown and living with John (3) and her daughter Mary in the 1880 census. Elizabeth was also shown as a widow. They resided in two known places during their marriage. First on West 8th Street in Wilmington during the 1880's and later at 1017 Kirkwood Street. John (3) worked as a brick mason. The date of John's (3) death is unknown. Mary was remarried to a Mr. Wilson after John's (3) death. Where they were interred is unknown at this time. William Hardy, (4) William, (4) was born the 3rd child & 2nd son of Robert (1) & Mary (_____) Hardy on March 2, 1855 in Wilmington. He was baptisted in the Old Swedes Church in Wilmington in July, 1855. The witnesses were William and Anne Beatty. He married "Rebecca _____" whose personal information is currently unknown. They resided in the Marcus Hook, PA area. Together they had five children. 10. Homer Hardy 11. William Hardy 12. May Hardy 13. Jacqueline Hardy Family Notes: Robert (9) and Jacqueline (13) were born the oldest and youngest. However the birth order of the other three children is unsure. Robert (9) died while working at the Texaco Refinery in Marcus Hook, PA due to falling in a vat and being burned.
Robert (5) died on April 22, 1922 at the age of 60 after getting his arm caught in a corn sheller about 10 days earlier. The cause of death was Lockjaw. He was interred in Lakeside Cem., Dover. Ella died on September 13, 1935 at the age of 63 of a heart attack & was interred next to her husband. A silver hunting case man's pocket watch used by Robert (5) can be seen at the Delaware State Archives. It was donated to them by his daughter Mary (14). Together they had 6 children. 15. Sep 28, 1974 19.* Mary Carter Hardy, b. Oct 16, 1904, d. May 4, 2005 Family Notes: Robert (14) was born in New Castle & was believed to have died an infant. William (15) was born in Leipsic & died at 5 days old. Elizabeth (16) was also born in Leipsic & was nicknamed "Lizzie". She died at 15 years of age & is interred at Lakeside Cem., Dover with her parents. A John E. White, b. Jul, 1884, was lodging with the family during the 1900 census. Ada Mary Goodnow Hardy, (7) Ada, (7) was born the 2nd child and only dau of John (3) & Mary Carter (McDowell) Hardy on August 18, 1881 in Wilmington. She married "William Callahan" whose personal information is currently unknown. They resided in the Wilmington area and had 2 known children. 31. ??? Callahan
Joseph F. V. Blocksom Hardy, (8) Joseph, (8) was born the 3rd and last child & 2nd son of John (3) & Mary Carter (McDowell) Hardy on November 19, 1883 in Wilmington. He married "Catherine _____" whose personal information is currently unknown. They resided in the New Castle area & were believed to have had 2 children. 33. ??? Hardy
John (18) then moved to Wilmington with a lady named "Ella Brown". Ella was killed when she was struck by a car. He later met and married "Helen "Eloise" McElroy" who was born in Alabama on April 2, 1927. They lived in Atlantic City, NJ for a few years where at least two of their children were born. They later moved to Florida and eventially lived in Hialeah, FL. John (18) worked on the Farm in Kitts Hummock and later worked on ships in the Delaware Bay, in the ocean off of Atlantic City, NJ and later in Florida. He also served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. Pearle & Eloise both reportedly were homemakers. Ella worked as a waitress. John (18) died in Hialeah, Fl on September 28, 1974 at 2:30 pm in the Hialeah Hospital of Heart Failure. He was interred in the Vista Memorial Gardens in Dade County, FL on October 1, 1974. It is unsure at this time if Pearle is deceased. Eloise is still residing in Hialeah, Fl. John (18) had 7 children with Pearle Case and 5 with "Eloise". Children of John R. N. Hardy & Pearle Case:

Family Notes: Child (34) is believed to have been an unnamed infant that died at birth & is interred at Lakeside Cem., Dover with their grandparents Robert (5) and Ella in a unmarked grave. Catherine (35) married "Wallace Thompson" and resides in Easton, MD. Kenneth (38) resides in Pennsylvania and has one child believed to be named Robin. Mary Ellen (40) married "Nicholas Rocci" who was born on January 19, 1924. They don't have any children together and reside in Kissimmee, Florida. Mary Carter Hardy, (19) Mary, (19) was born the 6th & last child & 3rd & last dau of Robert H. (5) & Ella (David) Hardy on October 16, 1904 on her father's farm in Kitt's Hummock. She was named for her aunt Mary Carter (McDowell) Hardy, wife of her uncle John (3). She married "Edgar Spry Emery" on June 30, 1926 in the Baptist Church Parsonage on State Street in Dover. "Spry" was born the son of Edward & Laura (Honey) Emery on November 19, 1895 near Sudlersville, MD. After their marriage they resided in the Dover area. "Spry" died on September 4, 1979 at Kent General Hospital in Dover of an Aneurysm. He was interred next to his Father-in-law & Mother-in-law at Lakeside Cem., Dover. A doll that was given to Mary (19) by her aunt Mary Carter (McDowell) Hardy when she was 8 was donated by her to the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover where it is on display. Mary (19) passed away at the age of 100 on May 4, 2005 in Dover, De. and was interred next to her hubandd. She and her husband did not have any children. View Online Memorial For (click on name):
John (36) then married "Ruth Elizabeth (Dean) Edwards". Ruth was born the dau of Maurice Samuel & Grace (Carroll) Dean on October 21, 1938 in Denton, MD. (See the "Dean Family History") John (36) & Ruth had 2 children together. Ruth had 6 children prior to this marriage. John (36) worked during his lifetime as a Laboror. He died on November 3, 1982 during this marriage & was interred in the Camden Odd Fellows Cem., Camden. Ruth remarried after John's death to Walter Garfield Hamby who was born the son of Benjamin Franklin & Mary (Blevins) Hamby on April 1, 1936 in Warrensville, NC. Edward Hardy, (37) Edward, (37) was born the 4th child & 2nd son of John Reed Nicholson (18) & Pearle (Case) Hardy on the Logan Farm near Kitts Hummock. He married "Betty Story". Family Notes: Edward (66) resides in Texas. Lance (67) died of a Heart Attack while living in Texas. Gary (68) died as a result of a Motorcycle Accident at the age of 19 years. He was interred in the Lakeside Cem., Dover.
Jane Marcella Hardy, (39) Jane, (39) was born the 6th child & 2nd dau of John Reed Nicholson (9) & Pearle (Case) Hardy on January 7, 1926 in Delaware. She married "Clyde Edgar Hinebaugh" who was born on August 4, 1926. His parent's names are currently unknown. Jane (39) passed away on June 26, 1997. Where she is interred is currently unknown. John Edward Brittingham, (46) John "Jack", (46) was born the 1st child & 1st son of John Robert Hardy (36) and Doris Brittingham. He has been married three times. He first married "Connie Lee Larrimore" whose dates and parents names are currently unknown. They had two children together and later divorced. He then married 2nd to "Diana Lee Longo". Her dates and parents names are currently unknown. They have no children together. He then married 3rd to Laura Lee _____ who dates and parent's names are also unknown. They reside in rural Dover, Delaware. 74. John D. Brittingham, b. Dec 30, 1970 Family Notes: Kathaleen (73) currently has three children and John (74) has two children.
Linda Susan Hardy, (48) Linda "Susan", (48) was born the 3rd child & 1st dau of John Robert (36) & the 2nd child & 1st dau of Pearl Jeanette (Dantinne) Hardy on January 1, 1951. She has been married three times. She was married 1st to "Edmund Cole, Jr." who the son of Edmund, Sr. & Evelyn (Sheehan) Cole on June 7, 1968 in Wyoming Methodist Church in Wyoming, De. They had no children together and were later divorced. She then married "Edward Otto" in Denton, MD in 1971and they had one child together. They were later divorced. She later married "Wayne Moore". Wayne was born the son of Frances & Pauline (Rash) Moore on Aug 15, 1950. He died in a truck accident in Sheerborn, NY on August 9, 1979. She was in a relationship with "James M. Davis" with whom she resided since 1980. James "Jim" was born the son of Durwood & Margery (_____) Davis on Sep 2, 1943. James has since passed away. They have one child together. Jeannette Pearl Hardy, (49) Jeanette "Candy", (49) was born the 4th child & 2nd dau of John Robert (36) & the 3rd child & 2nd dau of Pearl Jeanette (Danteen) Hardy on December 7, 1952. She married "Richard Baum" who was born on January 31, 1947 in Pa. His parents are currently unknown. Richard died during their marriage in June of 1982. Candy (49) died due to cystic fibrosis in September, 1986 in Pa. She is interred in the Edgewood Gardens on Route 1 Concordville, Pa. Together they had 1 child. Family Notes: Amy (77) after her mother's death moved in with her aunt Sandra (50) in West Virginia. She has graduated from high school and reportedly currently lives on her own.
Sandra Hardy, (50) Sandra, (50) was born the 5th child & 3rd dau of John Robert (36) & the 4th child & 3rd dau of Pearl Jeanette (Danteen) Hardy on August 22, 1954. She married "Peter Szabries" whose other info is unknown at this time. They have one child together and reside in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
John Robert Hardy, Jr., (53) John, (53) was born the 8th child & 5th son of John Robert, Sr. (36) & the 7th child and 4th son of Ruth Elizabeth (Dean) Hardy on May 17, 1968 in Dover, De. (See the "Dean Family History") He married "Melissa Dawn Beene" who was born on February 13, 1970. Melissa is the dau of Brenda Lee (_______). Melissa currently resides in rural Harrington, DE. They had one child together John (53) then had a relationship with "Tina Marie (Grioli) Windsor" who was born the dau of Giuseppe & Dell Bryant (Lawson) Grioli on July 26, 1969. Tina was previously married to Jay Windsor with whom she had one child, Jonathan A. Grioli. John (53) currently (2003) resides with his sister Ruth (54) in Dover, De. Family Notes: Robert's (79) name was changed legally in January, 1994 from Robert Odell Lawson-Grioli to Robert Lawson Hardy.
Ruthie (54) met & and resided with "Russell Stout Pickett" from November, 1991 through October, 1998. Russell was born the son of John Ernest, Jr. & Emma Virginia (Stout) Pickett on October 29, 1951 in Wilmington, DE. They have two children together. Russ had two children previous to this relationship, Christopher Scott and Ryan Mark Pickett (See the "Pickett Family History") Ruthie (54) graduated from Lake Forest High School in Felton, De. in 1988. She has worked as a waitress at Attilio's Pizza in Milford, De., the Blue Coat Inn Pancake House in Dover, De., in Wal-Marts in Dover, De. and currently with Bank Of America in Dover, De. He married "Carolyn Lee Edwards" on January 19, 1973 in Georgetown, De. Carolyn was born the dau of Alfred James & Ruth Elizabeth (Dean) Edwards on November 10, 1956 in Easton, Md. They reside in Kissimmee, Fl and together they have one child.
Michael C. Kersey, (85) Michael, (85) was born the 1st child & only son of Charles E., Jr. & Barbara M. (Hinebaugh) Kersey (70) on January 25, 1968. He married "Cherie Morgan" whose dates and parent's names are currently unknown. They reside in Milford, DE and together they have 3 children. Angela Marie Kersey, (86) Angela, (86) was born the 2nd & last child & only dau of Charles E., Jr. & Barbara M. (Hinebaugh) Kersey (70) on October 27, 1971. She married "Lawrence David Gary" on January 31, 1998 at the Bethel Westlan Church in Goldsboro, MD. Lawrence was born the son of David & Sherry (_____) Gary on September 2, 1969. They reside in Felton, DE and are currently expecting a child due in the late summer of '98.
Kristina Marie Hinebaugh, (87) Kristina "Kris", (87) was born the only child of Ashley Ivan (71) & Carolyn Lee (Edwards) Hinebaugh on November 18, 1973 in Dover. She had a relationship and one child with "Kevin Beck". His dates and parent's names are currently unknown. She married "Jeffery Busch" on July 10, 1993 in the Church of God, Winter Haven, FL.
